Sodium Acid Sulfate - Food Grade

Sodium Acid Sulfate (SAS) is a patented acidulant recently introduced to the food industry. For this reason, Jones-Hamilton Co. is excited to make this safe and economical product available for use in food processing plants. SAS is intended for pH adjustment of process water to enhance chlorine activity (increase hypochlorous acid content). SAS meets all applicable safety and handling requirements and Food Chemicals Codex standards that assure purity.

Application:

The goal for pH is 6.0 to 6.5 is to improve the bacterial killing effect of chlorine. The amounts of SAS required to drop pH into that range depends on the starting pH of the water, and to a greater degree the “alkalinity” of the water supply. Jones-Hamilton Co. will test the water supply for your chilling operation free of charge in order to estimate needed quantities of SAS. SAS is classified as non-hazardous by the Dept. of Transportation and meets Food Chemicals Codex, 5th edition specifications.
