  • Support for local Science, Technology, Engineering  and Math (STEM) education and initiatives
  • Charitable giving
  • Volunteering

Helping Our Community

Below are some kind words from Hal Gregory at Oregon City Schools about our involvement in the OCTC Teachers, Industry & Environment (TIE) Conference. Jones-Hamilton takes pride in supporting our local community.

"On behalf of Oregon City Schools and Fassett Junior High Science teacher, Caine Kolinski, thank you to Jones-Hamilton Company for supporting Mr. Kolinski’s registration and accommodations for the OCTC Teachers, Industry & Environment (TIE) Conference this past October in Dublin, Ohio.

Mr. Kolinski found the conference extremely valuable and can apply concepts immediately in his classroom. Your commitment to science instruction with this sponsorship has certainly reinforced Mr. Kolinski’s excitement for teaching science. This is Mr. Kolinski’s first year teaching at the junior high level transferring from teaching high school students for many years. This training came at a perfect time for him."

Jones-Hamilton has a successful United Way Campaign!

Jones-Hamilton will contribute close to $44,000 to the Greater Toledo United Way in 2017 after a successful fall 2016 campaign.  This puts us over $200,000 in the last 5 years to support income, health and education initiatives in Toledo, Ottawa and Wood Counties; the communities where most of our employees live and work.    Jones-Hamilton has been a strong supporter of the United Way in Greater Toledo for over 25 years, and for the last 20 years has an employee on the Board of Directors.   We are in the top 45 of employee campaigns in Greater Toledo, which is impressive given our size!   We Live United !    Photo below is Jane Rosser (BGSU), Carole Rehm (retired), and Gerry Danes (Jones-Hamilton), all Wood County United Way volunteers.

Jones-Hamilton raises money for Christmas Food Baskets

For the 8th year in a row, the employee-owners of Jones-Hamilton collected money for Christmas food baskets distributed by the Northwood Fire Ladies Auxiliary and the Lake Township Firebelles. The employees donated $3100 that was matched by the company, and so both of these volunteer organizations received checks on December 16 for $3100.

Jones-Hamilton has donated over $50,000 to Northwood and Lake Township volunteer organizations over the past 8 years for Christmas Food Baskets for those less fortunate, and were recognized with an article and photos in the December 26 edition of The Press.   (https://issuu.com/presspublications/docs/metro122616)

Photos below show checks being presented to Amy Crofts (Lake Township Firebelles), and Audrey Caligiuri (Northwood Fire Ladies Auxiliary).

Jones-Hamilton sponsors Lake Middle School students at BGSU Women in STEM Conference

Heather Janes (Lake Middle School Science Teacher and local STEM Superstar) took 15 young ladies to Bowling Green State University to attend the annual Women in STEM Conference. Heather and students attended 3 sessions, with a wonderful opening/keynote speaker who talked about her journey to her STEM career, enjoyed lunch at the student union, and finished off the day with a demo from Imagination Station.  They learned about water quality, microorganism identification, solved a mystery to see which rock committed a crime by the 'evidence' it left behind, and spent time in a marine biology lab (which is one of the largest in the country!).  Each session also touched on staying in tune with STEM and a message that science doesn't need to have a 'look'.  The young ladies also heard about many STEM careers, with some that even surprised Heather!  Said Heather, “It was amazing to spend this day with 15 young ladies who were totally engaged and ready to do whatever was thrown at them. Thank you so very much to Jones-Hamilton for sponsoring Lake Middle School and allowing me to take these ladies to BGSU Women in STEM!  We had a FANTASTIC time!”.    These photos were taken by Heather at the conference.
